Common Non-compliant Channels Content Overview

Non-compliant content in Channels generally includes the following types:

1. Violations of account

Including but not limited to:

1.1 Frequently posting non-compliant activity;

1.2 Frequently using non-compliant information;

1.3 Sending non-compliant messages to harass other users;

1.4 Frequently posting risky content without qualifications to do so;

1.5 Posting a large number of marketing, spamming, or vulgar comments;

1.6 Maliciously providing contact information (e.g. the provided Weixin account is suspected of spreading information about pornography, gambling, or drug, or selling prohibited items.)

2. Infringing content

Including but not limited to the content that:

2.1 Exploits the identity information of others;

2.2 Infringes upon the legal rights and interests of others such as the right of name, right of portraiture, and right of reputation;

  • 2.2.1 Maliciously disclosing the privacy of others, such as ID information, contact information, etc.;

  • 2.2.2 Maliciously damaging the reputation of celebrities;

  • 2.2.3 Insulting or slandering others;

  • 2.2.4 Intimidating, tracking, and secretly taking photos of others to pose a threat to others' personal safety;

2.3 Infringes upon the copyrights and trademark rights of others by, for example, plagiarizing the content containing the copyright marks of others;

  •  2.3.1 Plagiarizing others' works without permission;

  • 2.3.2 Posting content that is highly similar to others' works and suspected of plagiarism without permission.

3. Vulgar content

Including but not limited to the content that:

3.1 Displays persons in revealing dress or is suspected of being naked;

3.2 Involves sexual suggestions through text, sounds, items, gestures, or behavior;

3.3 Contains insulting and humiliating words;

  • 3.3.1 Abusive, vulgar, lewd, or other malicious comments;

  • 3.3.2 Discriminatory content that is offensive to others' dignity;

3.4 Goes against social ethics;

  • 3.4.1 Promoting wrong values of marriage and love, such as extramarital affair;

  •  3.4.2 Presenting outdated vulgar customs, such as wedding horseplay and child brides;

3.5 Displays improper behaviors of minors or is harmful to the physical and mental health of minors;

  •  3.5.1 Displaying sensitive body parts of minors;

  • 3.5.2 Displaying minors smoking or drinking;

  • 3.5.3 Displaying or suggesting intimacy between minors;

3.6 Displays the details of animal mating;

3.7 Focuses on the private parts for a long period.

4. Contains aggressive marketing or harassing content

Including but not limited to the content that:

4.1 Involves pyramid schemes;

4.2 Solicits donations without the qualification for public fundraising;

4.3 Involves trading or dissemination of non-compliant software and services (such as plug-ins);

4.4 Promotes medicines, medical devices, health foods, and formula foods for special medical purposes;

4.5 Uses plagiarized content to increase traffic and promote;

4.6 Uses plagiarized content to increase ad traffic;

4.7 Completely consists of marketing content without any valuable information;

4.8 Promotes risky products and sensitive business without qualifications;

4.9 Uses inflammatory content to recommend or sell products or services;

4.10 Focuses on medical treatment, health care, regimen, and life content to attract attention and promote products by highlighting their efficacy.

  • 4.10.1 Aims to promote or sell medical products/services, such as medicine, devices, consulting services or courses, etc.;

  • 4.10.2 Aims to promote or sell products/services related to medical cosmetology;

  • 4.10.3 Publishes medical information and increases traffic by providing contact information;

  • 4.10.4 Contains medical marketing information violating the "Advertising Law";

  • 4.10.5 Promotes products/services by claiming efficacy expressly or implicitly.

5. Illegal, non-compliant, or disturbing content

Including but not limited to the content that:

5.1 Promotes pyramid selling activities and related products;

5.2 Promotes gambling activities;

  • 5.2.1 Organizing profit-making gambling by use of video games;

  • 5.2.2 Promoting gambling-related products, platforms, or plug-ins;

  • 5.2.3 Promoting short-term high-yield investment products;

  • 5.2.4 Promoting entertainment activities involving money in the name of playing board games;

  • 5.2.5 Promoting game room card or related agents without qualifications;

5.3 Involves violence or terror, or is bloody or scary;

  • 5.3.1 Maliciously tarnishing the public image of public officials;

  • 5.3.2 Promoting or displaying illegal violence;

  • 5.3.3 Disturbing content such as close-ups of surgery, or images making trypophobia sufferers uncomfortable;

  • 5.3.4 Promoting or displaying cruelty to animals;

5.4 Involves items controlled or prohibited by the People's Republic of China (PRC);

5.5 Sells lottery tickets without permission or promotes illegal lottery games;

5.6 Publishes financial information such as fund-raising, online lending, and cash-out without permission;

5.7 Incites ethnic hatred and ethnic discrimination, or undermines ethnic unity;

  • 5.7.1 Violating ethnic customs and publishing extreme nationalism information;

  • 5.7.2 Promoting racial and ethnic discrimination, and causing antagonism in terms of regional discrimination, etc.

5.8 Opposes PRC's religious policies, or promotes cults and feudal superstitions;

5.9 Spreads false information, disturbs public order, and undermines social stability;

5.10 Promotes immoral values or wrongly-oriented concepts;

  • 5.10.1 Deliberately showing overeating;

  • 5.10.2 Displaying details of banned movies and books;

  • 5.10.3 Promoting and displaying wealth-flaunting behaviors of minors, campus bullying, etc.;

  • 5.10.4 Promoting anti-humanism, taking pleasure in natural calamities or others' misfortunes, etc.

  • 5.10.5 Promoting and abetting the concept of PUA (pick-up artist), selling PUA courses, or sharing PUA techniques, etc.

6. Inducing content

Including but not limited to the content that:

6.1 Induces users to share, like, comment, or follow under the guise of interactions or playing games;

6.2 Coerces users into sharing, liking, commenting or following by issuing malicious curses or threats;

6.3 Incentivizes users to share, like, comment or follow using physical objects, virtual objects, and false information.

7. Lewd content

Including but not limited to the content that:

7.1 Involves prostitution and sexual services;

7.2 Disseminates and sells lewd information resources;

7.3 Involves sexual organs, sexual behaviors, and sexual details.

8. Misuse of feature

Including but not limited to the content that:

8.1 Is suspected of using fake numbers to promote;

8.2 Contains extended links irrelevant to the video content to increase traffic;

8.3 Mentions (@) a large number of users or includes unrelated topics in activity descriptions in the attempt to increase traffic;

8.4 Is published partially to incentivize users to tap extension links for more content or next episodes.

9. False content

Including but not limited to:

9.1 Politics-related false content that violates laws and regulations, endangers the security, or harms the interests of the People's Republic of China;

9.2 Social event-related false content that disrupts social order, or causes or may cause a public panic;

9.3 False content about public topics, food safety, and healthcare;

9.4 Other content that has been officially announced to be untrue.

10. Repeated posting of risky content without qualifications

Including but not limited to:

10.1 The content related to medical treatment or healthcare that is posted without qualifications such as that of doctor, nurse, pharmacist, medical institution, or pharmaceutical company;

10.2 The content related to finance, credit loans, wealth management, investment, stocks and other financial fields that is posted without the qualifications to engage in such industries as banking, security, futures, insurance, and funds.

11. Cheating behaviors

Including but not limited to:

11.1 Committing cheats through non-compliant means, such as using third-party platforms, plug-ins, or system vulnerabilities, in Weixin or related services;

  • 11.1.1 Falsifying data such as the number of followers, views, comments, and likes;

  • 11.1.2 Performing unusual operations such as trading in accounts and registering false accounts;

11.2 Displaying or promoting methods or tools for cheating.

In case of any discrepancy between the Simplified Chinese and English versions of this Overview, the Simplified Chinese version shall prevail.
