How to cultivate excellent engineering and computer software talents in the new economic period? In January this year, the "China Collegiate WeChat Application Education Alliance" jointly sponsored by the Advisory Committee of Software Engineering Specialty in Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, the Advisory Committee of Computer Specialty in Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, and the MOE Research Center for Online Education was established in Beijing. Ten well-known universities, including Tsinghua University and Peking University, became the first governing units of the alliance. In particular, six tasks need to be done, including promoting the connotation construction and educational reform of the new engineering; building online course resources and practice platform; carrying out the popularization and application of courses and the training of teachers; creating the ecology of WeChat technology innovation in campus; jointly carrying out scientific research and exploration; and promoting the implementation of the national college mini-program application contest.
Especially in aspect of education reform, combining technology progress and innovative application development with the internet as the core, and taking WeChat open platform and WeChat application development technology as carriers, reforming and upgrading the existing curriculum system and teaching content, emphasizing the extraction of complex software problems and the integration of new technologies in the network era, promoting the reform of teaching mode and personnel training mechanism, and forming a computer and software engineering education consortium with in-depth cooperation between school and enterprise.
However, in aspect of engineering technology education, teachers play an important role. Therefore, with the help of the advisory committees of computer and software engineering specialties, the alliance will actively promote the extensive application of online high-quality teaching resources supported by the alliance in college curriculum teaching, and explore the sustainable development mechanism of open and shared curriculum groups. It will organize teaching seminars and teacher training for WeChat development courses to provide college teachers with the opportunity to practice in enterprises and help teachers to follow up and apply the advanced technology in the industry in a timely manner.
In April this year, Tencent WeChat also held an in-depth teaching discussion with hundreds of teachers from several universities across the country. The main topic of discussion was how to quickly iterate over the existing teaching system of computer and software engineering courses, and embrace the latest WeChat mini-program development technology. Nearly half of representatives were from 985 and 211 colleges and universities who work at teaching frontiers.

Artificial intelligence and data mining are the key directions of WeChat team in the future. The joint laboratory improves human life service experience through artificial intelligence technology and at the same time develops big data research and expands knowledge fields. In addition to developing innovative experimental bases, new technologies and new techniques should also be used first in colleges and universities. Previous engineering technology campus contest focused more on innovation in business modes.

Technology-based innovation and the disruptive innovation from 0 to 1, especially the underlying technology and application of internet and artificial intelligence, should be given closer attention.
Contest held by colleges and universities is ought to encourage students to understand and embrace technologies. Meanwhile, the contest should cultivate the operating and business service thinking of engineering students while improving their technical skills so as to build a strong pool of talents who develop in an all-round way.
As technological innovation has speeded up, campus contest can be seen as a conventional method to introduce new technologies and applications in ways that help colleges and universities better meet the demands for talents of market and enterprises. Contest is set to facilitate learning and teaching. Experiences and cases accumulated in the process will be written in the text books.

“New Engineering Construction” might as well give more concerns to students as they are most sensitive to changes
