China Collegiate Computing Contest 2018- WeChat Mini Program Application Development Contest was launched at Tsinghua University

Tsinghua University News, April 3; On March 30, China Collegiate Computing Contest - WeChat Mini Program Application Development Contest was launched at the reception hall of the main building of Tsinghua University.


This contest, as the collegiate students’ innovative application development jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, Tsinghua University and Tencent WeChat, aims to provide a stage for collegiate students to show their outstanding ideas, cultivate collegiate students’ ability of innovation and practice by using WeChat mini program platform development technologies, realize promotion of academia, education and application with contest and promote the training of talents in the WeChat ecosystem and the goals of industry, academia and research.


According to official data released by WeChat, among developers of mini programs, those under the age of 20 account for 5.5%. As a new force in the field of computer, college students have great potential for prospering mini program developers’ ecology and are an important part of the future mini program development ecology.


Jiang Zongli, Deputy Director of the Advisory Committee of Computer Specialty in Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Director of the Organizing Committee of the “China Collegiate Computing Contest”, and Wang Bin, Director of the Expert Committee, and Associate Professor of the Software College of Tsinghua University attended the kick-off meeting and delivered a speech. The relevant person in charge of the Tencent WeChat team attended the launching ceremony.


The contest targets at university students and postgraduates (including higher vocational colleges, undergraduates, and postgraduates). Students can choose to participate in the contest individually or together with one or two students as a team, with team members from different grades, different majors or even different colleges. One student can only participate in one team.


The contest requires all entries to be original WeChat mini programs with applicable scenes and corresponding functions. The contest schedule is divided into four stages: team formation and test, project submission, selective trials and national finals. It is currently divided into 7 domestic contest areas in China and 1 overseas contest area. The first two teams in each domestic contest area will directly enter the national finals and the 16 teams among the 3rd to 10th from each domestic contest area in China and the overseas contest area will enter the national finals after contest. There will be a total of 30 teams participating in the finals.
