On September 27, the Information Office and the News Center of the Ministry of Education joined hands with Tencent WeChat to hold a “New Platform New Linkage – Collective Launching Ceremony of Mini Programs of 30 Colleges and Universities and New Media Promotion Seminar on Education Government Affairs” at Tsinghua University, and announced the launch of exclusive mini programs of nearly 30 colleges and universities, aiming to provide more convenient campus services for collegiate teachers and students with the capability of mini programs.
This is another practice that the education system government new media use the new platform and new technology to serve teachers and students. Taking the lead in launching mini programs has also enabled education government new media to stay at the forefront of the “Internet + Government” service sector.
Before Teacher’s Day, the government new media of the Ministry of Education officially launched the “Weiyan Education” mini program with the Tencent WeChat official platform, and successfully carried out the social event themed “Honor! Teacher”. The visitor volume of the mini program exceeded 400,000 person-times, covering nearly 20 million users of WeChat.
At present, some universities such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, and Beijing Normal University have also begun to “make trials”. Peking University’s “Campus Guide” and Wuhan University’s “Smart Island” and other mini programs provide more qualified, convenient and comprehensive information services for teachers and students. WeChat mini program is a brand-new way to connect users and services. It can be easily accessed and disseminated in WeChat. The mini programs in education system is a brand-new way of providing information and services to the public, teachers and students created by education departments and related universities together with Tencent WeChat official platforms. It can integrate teaching, campus services, school management, and achieve intelligent upgrade of university operations.
WeChat users only need to open the “Discover – Mini Programs” on WeChat, search for “Weiyan Education” or launched colleges in the search box to access it.
The launch of the mini programs in education system is a brand-new complement to the education government new media alliance with the official account “Weiyan Education” as the core, which further enriches and expands the application function and development prospects of collegiate new media. The WeChat team said, “We hope that WeChat will further penetrate into the campus to create a modern educational experience and serve more campus scenarios via mini programs.”
Since the launch of the official Weibo of the Ministry of Education on January 1, 2013, the Information Office of the Ministry of Education has been actively creating a new government media “Weiyan Education”. Currently, it has opened official Weibo and official WeChat, and has settled in 7 news client platforms successively, including Sohu, Sina, People’s Daily, Toutiao, Netease and Yidianzixun, Tencent Penguin and other.
